Hairspray Hack: Make Your Bobby Pins Stay Put All Day
If you’ve ever struggled with bobby pins sliding out of your hair, you’re not alone.
Whether you’re securing an updo or just pinning back some flyaways, keeping those tiny pins in place can be a challenge. Luckily, there’s a simple hack that can make all the difference—hairspray!
Hairspray adds texture and grip to bobby pins, helping them stay in place for hours.

To use this trick, start by holding your bobby pin open in your hand. Then, lightly mist it with hairspray and pin it in your hair while still tacky. The added stickiness helps create friction, preventing the pin from slipping.
For even better hold, insert the bobby pin with the wavy side facing down—this grips the hair more effectively. You can also crisscross two pins over each other for extra security.
This hack is especially useful for fine or silky hair, where bobby pins tend to slide right out. Next time you’re styling your hair, give it a try and enjoy a long-lasting, polished look without the frustration of constant readjustments!

This is absolute genius, Grace. Thanks for sharing it. I am growing my hair out and reaching the awkward stage where I have to pray not to cut it, or, have it cut. This will help. The website is beautiful, and I’m delighted to see you’ve gone into hair…it’s so creative and fulfilling, I hear. I’m the lady related to your Aunt Mary by way of being Uncle Don’s sister. I have read that hair stylists are the people happiest in their work, of all occupations. God bless you and I will keep checking back.
